Google Adwords Keyword Tool Tutorial

Google Adwords Keyword Tool Tutorial - Read this Google Adwords Keyword Tool Tutorial for great Keyword Research advice and finding the best keywords for your business.

Welcome to Google Adwords keyword tool tutorial. I have already explained about Google Adwords advertising. Here I will explain all about the very useful Google Adwords Keyword Tool to be used for successful advertising on the internet.

Google’s Adwords is advertising model that works on the principle of pay per click advertising. It is keyword targeted advertising program, which means that when a user searches for certain keyword and same is selected by you for your Google Ad, then Google Adwords automatically display your site along with the results of the search in a column right next to the search results.

Making Great Keywords List for your Adwords Campaign

The first thing you need to get started with Adwords is a goal. Is your goal to make direct sales via your website ?

Whatever your goal might be, your website should be eye-catching and well organized, and include landing pages for your products or services.

Whether you are selling directly from your website or capturing leads, your website should always have obvious ways to contact you using whatever method the prospect feels most comfortable using: a contact form, email, or telephone. This increase the credibility of your website.
Let's say you have a "info product of click bank about making money online" and you want to start Google Adwords campaign for it. Now think for a minute about how you would go about searching for earning money online. Would you search on the term "work" or "money" or "jobs".

So, how can you determine which search terms to use when advertising your products and services?

Best thing is to write down the top search terms that you can think of that describe your business or service on a spreadsheet, this will make it easier to organize and submit later. In order to get an idea of the popularity of each search term, enter each key word in Google Adwords Keyword Tool.

Another excellent keyword tool is found at www.wordtracker.com. This service will reveal which terms are the most searched on the Web, and also give suggestions for alternative search phrases.

Take for example the keyword "work from home". You get following results
So you are gathering more an more key phrases by doing lateral search. You must create a long list keywords or phrases that exactly defines your product. By having great keyword list you can actually reach to right people.

Be creative! Type in any series of words or put any combination in search tool which comes in to your mind that you think might lead someone to your product or service. Don't hesitate of using thesaurus or dictionary to assist you.

You can add modifying words that are relevant to your product or service, such as: cheap, discount, low cost, free, premium, authentic, legitimate etc. Check the Search Suggestion Tool to assess the number of searches conducted for those terms in the previous month. Enter the terms and data into your spreadsheet.

if you use the keyword 'online money', why not consider using 'authentic work at home', 'legitimate work at home', or 'Best work at home' if they apply to your business ? The purpose of these activities is to generate the longest possible list of relevant search terms possible. Why ? Remember, you only pay when someone actually clicks on your message. You pay nothing extra to simply list more keywords. Additionally, the more keywords you have, and the more specific the search phrases are, the more likely that your visitor will be truly interested in your product or service.
A longer list of relevant search phrases also increases the likelihood that you will attract visitors to your site at a lower cost. That is because it is often possible to bid less for a click if the search term is less popular. More search terms, bid at a lower cost, mean more traffic to your site for fewer advertising dollars.

You should have a fairly comprehensive list of targeted search terms and phrases that will get you ahead of your competitors.

Initially, choose both general keywords and narrowly targeted keywords, and carefully evaluate the results. Keep keywords that are getting you results, and remove keywords that are not working for you. You will probably need to run your campaigns for a while before you will have enough information to determine which keywords are succeeding for you.

Google Adwords Ad Campaigns, Daily Budget &Targeting Locations

Once you have a goal, website, and landing page, you are ready to signup for Google Adwords. Learn by doing. The Campaign level is where you set your daily budget, language targeting, location targeting and ad distribution preferences.

Ad Campaigns & Ad Groups: In my experience, it has been beneficial to create multiple campaigns so that you can experiment with different parameters and compare the results. Keep the campaigns that work well; delete campaigns that do not work well.
Google Adwords lets you create up to 25 campaigns per account, with up to 100 Ad Groups per campaign as of this writing. It's important to organize your keywords into separate Ad Groups to maintain finer control over the ad text for each keyword.
If you had one AdGroups for the following keywords: "work at home", "online money", and "part time jobs", then the ads created for that AdGroups would have to apply to all of the above keywords.
If your ad text reads: "Earn extra money online" and this ad is showing for the other keyword phrases in the same AdGroups, then someone searching for 'work at home business' probably will not be inclined to click on your ad that is focused on people searching for "online money".

The way to be sure each ad is focused on the exact keyword phrase being targeted is to have a separate AdGroups within your Google Adwords account for each keyword phrase, and ad text that exactly matches that phrase. For example, an AdGroups named "work at home" with the keywords "work at home opportunities", "work from home business" and "work at home jobs" can have an ad with text that reads "Work At Home $200 Daily" and the people searching for "work at home" will see the ad most relevant to their search term.
Create a separate AdGroups for "online money"," part time jobs" etc. Now you can create ads with text that matches the exact keyword phrase for which people are searching.

Your Daily Budget: Your daily budget for your campaign is the ceiling on your daily spending. You can set this number at whatever you want. It is a good idea to start out with a relatively low daily budget while you refine your Adwords effectiveness. As your ad campaigns succeed and bring you more business, you will likely want to increase your budget.
Start with a daily budget of about $10 to $15 per day and gradually increase this amount as you fine-tune your approach.

Targeting Locations: Choose the language you want to target, and then the countries or territories. This requires some thought. Can you offer your product or service globally, in just the United States, or in just your city or region ? You can target your campaign to the world or to specific countries, regions, states, or cities.

For even more precise targeting, you can even target your campaign to a certain number of miles from your business or even an area bounded by coordinates.
Now, search for the countries where maximum Click Bank info products are purchased online ? Based on the sales stats displayed on info products, USA, UK, Canada and Australia should be your initial target. Here you will receive best conversion rate for your product. If you choose to display your ad worldwide or in non English language countries, clicks will come from all over with less sales, so you will be spending more money per sale.

So this would be wise to select above said 4 countries for promotion of your product in initial phase, later you can expend to more countries, depending upon your success.

Creating Effective Google Adwords Ads

Now we will learn :
1. How to create Adwords ad that compels your prospects to click on your ad.

2. Land your prospects on a page that will maximize your investment.

Now that you've generated a comprehensive list of targeted keywords and phrases with which to attract your customers, you must create an advertisement which will entice them to visit your site.
Google adheres to a strict advertising format: all listings are text only, with a title line of 25 characters and a product or service description with 2 lines of up to 35 characters each. Your URL is also limited to 35 characters.
It is critical that this message be effective, concise and descriptive, and that sales are driven for best results.

Title Line : The title line is the first aspect of your Google ad that a potential visitor to your site will see. Google also has an affiliate network of partner website that displays their search results, and display only the title line of your advertisement. It is the title line's job to catch the attention and interest of a prospective customer and transition them into reading your full description and clicking through to your site. No sweat, right ? but wait…you have to accomplish this task using only 25 characters in total !
Now process for creation of a title line should be fairly straightforward. Open a new document in Microsoft Word, pick the most popular search phrase on my spreadsheet list, and then write a description that really sells your product or service relevant to that keyword or phrase. Initially, don't worry about the exact length, just try to get the most sales driven message. After constructing something of your liking, use the 'Word Count' function under the 'Tools' menu in Word to ascertain its exact length. Always keep your most powerful keyword in title, this will increase the effectiveness of your title. Experience has also shown that if you are offering a compelling value proposition, listing a price will increase clicks. Including the word 'free' increases clicks.

One great thing about Adwords is that it's pretty easy to change your message. I recommend testing several different approaches and finding the words and phrases that generate the most clicks. It's also smart to review the titles of your competitors in each category. I will type in the keyword or phrase and scan the title line to get a feel for what the main points of competition are. Some categories are very price driven, while others are service focused. There are no hard and fast rules as to what will work best, so continuous testing and refinement should be employed for all important keywords.

Experiment With Dynamic Headlines : Dynamic headlines replace your normal ad headline with what the searcher types in. So, if the searcher types, “Money”, this appears in the headline.
And if the searcher types in a search phrase that can't fit, such as “make money from working online ” then it reverts back to your default headline. Use it by inputting, “{KeyWord:Work at home $200 daily}” in the headline portion of your ad. “Work At Home $200 Daily” is your default headline.
Also, note that the “K” and “W” are capitalized in “KeyWord”. This means that the first letter in each search phrased is capitalized. For instance, “Work At Home $200 Daily” instead of “Work at home $200 daily” (if you had “Keyword”).

Dynamic headlines almost always significantly boost click through rates. But, they also sometimes reduce the quality traffic you get. You should experiment with dynamic headlines. If you find that an Ad Group is producing low-quality traffic, then you would toss the dynamic headline and see results, sure it won't be same.

Also, try adding words around the dynamic headline, such as, “Unique {Keyword:Furniture}”. This works best in Ad Groups with only a few keywords.

Descriptions Lines: Descriptions are the heart and soul of your sales pitch. You've managed to get the attention of your potential customer -- maybe for only a millisecond. Now, you've got to deliver on the promise of your title. Finally, you've got to convince your potential customer that if they click on your link, they will be rewarded with the all the benefits described in your message.

A great description gives as much relevant information as possible to the potential customer and will encourage qualified prospects to continue on to your site in search of further information, or to purchase your offerings. It will discourage random clicks by unqualified prospects who are not firmly in your target demographic.

Your description should include any factors that clearly add value to the customer above and beyond your competition. Do you offer special products or services ? A wider selection ? Better credit terms ? More flexible payment options ? Hard to find inventory ? These are the kinds of trigger points that can lead to higher click through

Where to Direct Your Link : The final step in the customer's journey is to successfully land on your site -- piece of cake, right ? It is if you know that you need to land the customer on the portion of your site that is most relevant to the search term. Always link the customer to a page that contains the exact information, product or service that they were searching for. Don't just land the customer on your home page.

Never create a disconnection between the original search term and your landing page. Evaluate every keyword and search phrase to identify the best area of your site on which customers should be delivered. This is absolutely necessary to maximize your conversion to sale.

Important Note on Landing Pages and Your Links : Google will bill you for a click once a customer has clicked on your link. You will be billed for this charge regardless of whether or not your site is functioning properly, or if the customer abandons the process prematurely because your site takes too long to load. Make sure that your site loads quickly, and that the links you deliver are active. If your site goes down, remember to reduce your bids to the minimum amount to prevent spending money driving potential customers to a dead link.

Some Tips & Tricks : Spell out one or more major benefit in your ad. For example," make more money", "residual income forever"," fast cash online" etc. Include Attention Grabbing Words In Your Ad.
1. Start your headline with an attention grabbing word : For example, "Free:, New:, Sale:, etc." Make sure you stay within Google's editorial guidelines.
2. Use Words That Provoke Emotion & Enthusiasm : Use power words or call-to-action phrases that provoke emotion, enthusiasm and a response. Here are some examples of power words : free, cheap, sale, special offer, time limited offer, tricks, you, tips, enhance, discover, fact, learn, at last,

free shipping, etc.

3. Remove Common Words : Remove common words, such as "a, an, in, on, it, of, etc." Remove every word that does not absolutely need to be in the ad. Make every word count.
4. Deter Freebie Hunters Deter freebie hunters by including the price of the product or service at the end of the ad. This will improve your overall conversion ratio and lower your average customer acquisition cost. This may reduce your click through ratio, but that's OK. After all, you're not trying to target every body, only potential customers. In most cases, freebie hunters will never become paying customers.

Take a look on this ad :
HeadlineWork At Home $200 Daily

Description line 1No sweat, comfortably from home !
Description line 2Bet you've never seen this before !
Display URLwww.guidebaba.com
Destination URLwww.guidebaba.com

Another example: This will grab attention instantly, what is your take ?
HeadlineNo money. Pity on you

Description line 1I make money, I'm better then you !
Description line 2Dare You Find Out More ?
Display URLwww.guidebaba.com
Destination URLwww.guidebaba.com

Great! You now have titles and descriptions that stand out from the competition. You also know the power of a targeted landing environment.

Google Search versus Google Content Network

Google Adwords can place your add in essentially two places: Google search and the content network. Google search are results from searches that prospective customers do directly using www.google.com. The content network consists of Google partner websites and sites that run advertisements through Google's AdSense program.

When creating a new campaign in the Google Adwords system, the default campaign settings are configured to show your ads on both the 'Content Network' and the 'Search Network'. Google has a pay-per-click affiliate program called Google Adsense.

This program pays people for each click on Google Adwords ads that are displayed on their own web sites. The problem for you, the Google Adwords advertiser, is that you do NOT want your ads showing up on any old website that has relevant content to your ad. You only want your ad displayed to people actively searching for the keyword(s) that trigger the display of your ad. Why? Because these are the best prospects for whatever you are trying to sell !

In my experience, Google search has yielded much more quality clicks than the content network. The content network is worth trying but I recommend putting it into a separate campaign so you can measure its results against your Google search campaign.

The power of the Google Adwords system is that you can attract highly-targeted, motivated buyers to your site by displaying an ad relevant to what a person is searching for at the moment that person is looking for what you are selling. By allowing your ads to be displayed on Google's 'Content Network', your ads are showing on all kinds of websites being casually surfed by people that may not be interested at all in what you are selling. This means you are paying for these Google Adsense clicks for less than qualified prospects.
The content network is opt-out, and is not possible to opt-out during the setup process. However, to opt-out of the content network for a specific campaign, you can go back to campaign settings and uncheck the checkbox for content network.
If you want to keep it simple until you are more comfortable with Adwords, I recommend starting with just the search network. The first thing you should do when creating a new Google Adwords campaign is uncheck the 'Content Network' box in the campaign settings and limit your ads to being displayed only on Google's 'Search Network' to insure only highly qualified and motivated prospects click on your Google Adwords ads.
Then come back in a few weeks and setup a separate campaign where you focus on the content network and opt-out of the search network. Compare the results between the two campaigns. It is possible that you will find Google search is more productive than the content network but, of course, your results may be different from mine.

Google Adwords Strategies & Tips

Google AdWords Strategies & Tips contains the techniques, information and secrets for building a highly-effective campaign that minimizes your costs. Increase your click through rates (CTR), keep your costs reasonable and outsmart your competitors by taking advantage of the tips and strategies that we have learned by running AdWords campaigns for many of our clients.

1. Test Ad Positions - Because the highest one isn't always the best. : Keep in mind, the number 1 position usually produces the MOST traffic. However, it does not always produce the BEST quality traffic. Stay out of the top three positions where the lowest quality impulse clicks are most abundantly found.
Being in position 4-8 can be more lucrative by bringing in the more educated and serious buyers and keeping that cost per click down. Don’t be afraid of running the ad on the second page for higher qualified traffic. Remember, the game is to hit the perfect balance between price and position. Remember, many bidders daily budgets cut off their campaigns near the end of the day. This means you get their top positions

for a fraction of the cost!

2. Split-test your ads in Google Adwords : It is critical to split-test your ads. Google Adwords has a built-in feature that lets you automatically rotate the appearance of your ads so different ads can be shown an equal number of times (or weighted more heavily toward the ad that gets more clicks if you prefer - you can change this in the campaign settings). The benefit of this approach is that you will be able to see which ad gets a better click-thru rate (CTR).

Since Google Adwords rewards a higher CTR with lower cost per click (CPC), it is crucial that you know which ad has a better CTR. Sometimes just swapping the ad text that appears on lines 2 and 3 will make a big difference in your ad performance.

So what do you do if you find that after split-testing two different ads a clear winner emerges? Simple. Chuck the lower CTR ad, keep the winner, and create a new ad to split-test against the current reigning champion. By following this split-test strategy, you will constantly be improving your ads CTR and lowering your CPC.

How do you know when a clear winner has emerged? Is it enough to have two ads that both have received 10 clicks each? Or should you wait until you have 100 clicks each before making the determination that one ad is superior to the other? Statistically, a total of 100 clicks between the two ads will mean the answer is fairly certain, while 200 clicks between both ads is an almost definite certainty.

Always run at least two, differently worded, ads for each campaign. Google will automatically show both adverts alternatively, and you can then see which advert gets a higher CTR (i.e. which ad people are more likely to click on). When you’ve had a good number of clicks you can decide which advert is most effective and delete the less effective one. Then create a new second advert and see if you can get a higher CTR with a different type of wording. This way you are constantly improving the wording on your adverts to make them as attractive and effective as possible.

3. Put keywords in your ad text in Google Adwords : Did you know that the keywords that are part of the text of your ads in Google Adwords will appear in BOLD ? If someone searches for "online money " and your ad text reads "earn online money ", then the phrase 'online money' will appear in bold when your ad is displayed. This makes a huge difference in the click-thru rate of your ads!

If you don't believe me, simply follow the tip mentioned above for split-testing your ads and create two ads, one with the keywords in the ad text and the other without. You will be surprised at how much better the Google Adwords ad with the keyword(s) in the ad text performs.
